Welcome! An inside look at Rural Community Innovations RCI-Rural Community Innovations is a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization founded in 1996. Our mission is to provide technical assistance to rural and tribal communities to develop private sector economies that help alleviate persistent poverty. Our technique is threefold: we are innovative thinkers; we work hands on at the grassroots level; we come from the heart. We mentor in the areas of: • Entrepreneurship Development • Management Systems • Capital Access While Preserving Traditional Cultures RCI views sustainable development as a circle-perpetually linking Families, Community, Culture, Environment, and Passionate Stakeholders of all kinds. In Lakota culture, the Cangleska, or the Wheel of Life, represents the four directions of life as well as the four key Lakota virtues. These virtues-Courage, Wisdom, Fortitude, and Generosity-are important in our work at RCI. Their integration into our work has grown out of a deep respect for local ways of knowing and acting. Ultimately, our work merges these virtues, our expertise, and the determination of our clients to empower people and organizations to achieve sustainable successes.
