Project SupportRural Community Innovations has worked with communities, organizations and tribes on a wide variety of economic development projects, including private sector job creation and alternative and renewable energy. Over the recent years, RCI has assisted more than three dozen Native American projects to help them develop a more vibrant private sector economy. All of the funding to help communities and organizations in need comes from the excellent support of federal, state, and private grants and donations. We sincerely appreciate every penny that we can put to good use for our recipients. Sometimes the work we do has to be pro bono to make a worthwhile project move forward. Donations for specific project support or general funds are greatly appreciated. If you would like to know more about projects you could be interested in supporting, please call us. Lazarus ProjectThe Lazarus Project is the only American entry in the world’s longest race for an individual in any sport—The VELUX 5 OCEANS Race (once known as the BOC Challenge and the Around Alone) a single-handed yacht race around the world. VELUX 5 OCEANS is recognized as the longest and toughest sporting event in the world—a single-handed race over five oceans in a Formula 1 racing yacht through the most extreme weather conditions on the planet.![]() Team Lazarus is the organization built around skipper Brad Van Liew and the boat Le Pingouin—an Eco 60 Class boat. Van Liew is racing again for the third time in this terrific challenge of mind and matter over the open oceans of the world. When they cross the finish line in La Rochelle, the participants will have sailed more than 30,000 nautical miles—solo. Only 126 intrepid sailors in history have completed a single-handed circumnavigation. To put that into perspective, 400 astronauts have ventured into space and more than 2,000 people have reached the summit of Mount Everest. VELUX 5 OCEANS is an event to be undertaken only by the toughest and most experienced yachtsman. These are by no means weekend sailors; these are fierce competitors and noteworthy sportsmen. Although this is a solo race and only one person can sail the boat, it definitely takes a crew to make it around the globe alone. We are looking to increase the Le Pingouin team and hope you will join us as a donor! Despite his vast experience at sea, Brad does not have a Title Sponsor and continuing the race (and potential USA victory) depends on support from you. Please support this project with a generous donation. The Team Lazarus is undertaking this challenge without a title sponsor and needs America to come to its support.
